Native American Art and CultureWebb City Library was pleased to provide an exhibit of Native American art and culture. This exhibit opened on March 1, 2010. The exhibit contained art by Bob Tommey, Doug Hall, Jack Dawson, and other local artists as well as displays from local collectors, including an exhibit from the Eastern Shawnee Tribe. The exhibit closed on March 6, 2010. On that day there was a full day of programming which was for people of all ages. Chief Bearskin presented a program on the culture and customs of the Wyandotte Tribe. He dressed in traditional Wyandotte costume. Paul Barton gave a talk titled "The Culture and History of the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma". Mr. Barton is the tribe's Cultural and Historic Preservation Officer. Gary Reed was present and talked about creating traditional Native American style flutes. Mr. Reed is a talented flautist and performed using his flutes. Finally, Calvin Cassady presented a talk titled "The Iroquois Confederacy and the U.S. Constitution. The Library thanks all who made this exhibit a success.
